United Icons: Paul Scholes

Paul Scholes is one of Manchester United's greatest-ever midfielders He was part of the Class of 92.  His first team debut came in September 1994, where he scored both goals in a 2–1 win away at Port Vale in the League Cup. The strange thing about that match was United and Sir Alex Ferguson were heavily criticised for playing a weakened team. The debate even reached MP's. Who would have known that one of the best ever English midfielders was making his debut that day? His league debut came three days later against Ipswich Town at Portman Road, a game in which United lost 3-2 but Scholes scored a consolation goal.  The 1994/1995 season was a good debut campaign for Scholes, but they finished the season without a trophy.  The 1995/1996 season was then a success for the club and Scholes. He scored 14 goals in 31 appearances. The Treble A few years later, Scholes was a key player in Manchester United's treble success. He scored one of Manchester United's two goals a

United Review: Reds hold on for vital win

Manchester United 1 - 0 West Ham United What were your thoughts as United held on for a vital Premier League win. Marcus Rashford's 100th Manchester United goal was enough to beat West Ham United and provide a fitting tribute to a special 85th anniversary for the Old Trafford club. The 24-year-old powered home a firm header seven minutes from the break after Christian Eriksen had curled over a superb far-post cross, making Rashford the 22nd United player to reach 100 goals. In what turned out to be a thrilling finish, David de Gea made fantastic saves to deny Michail Antonio and Kurt Zouma. Then, with almost the final move of the game, he turned away a thunderous Declan Rice effort. Fan comments Danny was sat in the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand at Old Trafford. He said: "It’s nice to see United players enjoying their football again. West Ham were unlucky though." Olivia is a Season Ticket Holder in East Stand. She added: "Great win, starting to feel a lot more confiden

In a match dominated by the Reds, headed goals from Diogo Dalot and Marcus Rashford in each half were added to by a late Cristiano Ronaldo strike to settle the victory. The result, our fourth win of the group stage, means there will be a showdown at Real Sociedad next week to decide who takes the top spot and avoids having to play off against a third-placed side from the Champions League. United must win by two goals to topple the San Sebastian outfit on the head-to-head, after their 1-0 victory at Old Trafford. Virtually from the moment that United kicked off, the visitors sat into a robust defensive shape with all 11 players behind the ball, inviting the Reds to come at them.
