United Review: Giant step taken towards Wembley

Nottingham Forest 0 - 3   Manchester United

It was a comfortable evening for United

Marcus Rashford continued his sensational scoring streak at the City Ground as United closed in on an EFL Cup final appearance at Wembley next month with a comfortable win over Nottingham Forest.

His brilliant solo effort gave United the advantage six minutes into the first leg of the semi-final.

January loan signing Wout Weghorst added a second just before the break with his first goal for the club and Bruno Fernandes wrapped up the scoring a minute from time to provide Erik ten Hag's men with a healthy first-leg advantage.

Reaction

The Manchester United boss spoke with great pride about his star player. He said: " From the start of the season he is growing and he keeps doing that and what we have to aim for with him - and he is responsible for that - is to keep this process going. If he is in this mood, this spirit, he is unstoppable and it's about the team to get him in the right positions."

How good was this goal from Marcus Rashford?

Liam, a Manchester United fan from Oldham, told us: "It was a great evening for the club. We can start booking train tickets to London now."

One United fan posted on Twitter: "Rashford is our man of the moment. He has been very impressive and exceptional lately. I hope to see him carry along this form all season."

United Review: Reds cruise against Sheriff

Manchester United 3-0 Sheriff Tiraspol The reds recorded a comfortable in the Europa League. In a match dominated by the Reds, headed goals from Diogo Dalot and Marcus Rashford in each half were added to by a late Cristiano Ronaldo strike to settle the victory. The result, our fourth win of the group stage, means there will be a showdown at Real Sociedad next week to decide who takes the top spot and avoids having to play off against a third-placed side from the Champions League. United must win by two goals to topple the San Sebastian outfit on the head-to-head, after their 1-0 victory at Old Trafford. Virtually from the moment that United kicked off, the visitors sat into a robust defensive shape with all 11 players behind the ball, inviting the Reds to come at them. With a firm grip on the play, Erik ten Hag’s side enjoyed a steady stream of chances. Check out some of the atmosphere from the match. United Review: Casemiro shines in comfortable win

Manchester United 3 - 0 Nottingham Forest It was a straightforward night for the Red Devils as we brushed aside Forest with relative ease.  First goal was a training exercise worked to perfection We were ahead in the 19th minute from a set-piece move that would have brought a smile to the face of Teddy Sheringham, the former United and Forest striker who had particular success with goals from near-post corners. On this occasion, Christian Eriksen angled the ball along the ground and Rashford swept it into the net, finishing as he ran at full speed. Hennessey at fault for the second goal It was 2-0 a few minutes later after the slippery conditions deceived Hennessey. They took advantage of an overload on the left flank as Fernandes worked the ball forward to Rashford, who found Martial on the edge of the penalty area. His shot was side-footed, weak and, despite going through Willy Boly’s legs, should have been saved, but the ball squirmed from Hennessey’s grasp and trickled ove...
