United Review: Busy day for United sides

It was a busy day for both the Women's team in the WSL and the Under 18's side in FA Youth Cup.

Manchester City Women 1 - 1 Manchester United Women

Manchester United Women came agonisingly close to a first derby win. United had failed to beat City in five attempts in the WSL before this meeting at the Etihad Stadium, losing three times and drawing twice, but they were far from the underdogs.

Highlights from Manchester United - YouTube

The Red Devils have been sublime this season. They have exceeded expectations to mount a title challenge. The target in many minds was making the top three and entering the Champions League for the first time. However, they look capable of winning the WSL.

Let's explore some of the best social media comments

One fan tweeted: "We should have won this. But the players have done so well, 3 points at the Emirates and 1 point today. It has been a good season so far. We need to get Russo to sign the contract!"

That game was there to win, where were the subs, poor game management by United, poor decision-making at up top and poor defending led to their goal. their defence was there to get at. Two points were lost in a do-or-die season for the top three. Very disappointed as a fan."

Twitter user KB gave a balanced perspective: "Negatives and positives to take. Very frustrating we gave away a cheap goal and why aren’t the subs being used properly? Standout performances from Galton, Batlle and Blundell. We will miss Bøe Risa when she inevitably leaves us in January as she deserves far better!"

Crystal Palace Under 18's 1 - 3 Manchester United Under 18's

They weren't the only United side in action. The Under 18's began their defence of the FA Youth Cup with a potentially tricky trip to Crystal Palace.

They put in a great performance with a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace in a thrilling encounter at a foggy Selhurst Park.

The young Red Devils will now face Stoke City or Blackpool away, with the fourth-round tie needing to be played by Saturday 21 January 2023.

The news of Eric Cantona's impending transfer from Leeds to fierce rivals Manchester United was met with hostility from Leeds fans.  However, the transfer was seen as a good piece of business by most football experts. The Yorkshire club had removed a troubled player from their side and got decent money for him even though he played a part in them winning the league during the previous season.  Watch: Eric Cantona's 14 goals for Leeds United Eric The King Cantona made his first appearance for the club on 1 December 1992 in a friendly match against Benfica in Lisbon to mark Eusébio's 50th birthday, wearing the number 10 shirt.  Eric made his competitive debut as a second-half substitute against Manchester City at Old Trafford on 6 December. United Review: Reds cruise against Sheriff

Manchester United 3-0 Sheriff Tiraspol The reds recorded a comfortable in the Europa League. In a match dominated by the Reds, headed goals from Diogo Dalot and Marcus Rashford in each half were added to by a late Cristiano Ronaldo strike to settle the victory. The result, our fourth win of the group stage, means there will be a showdown at Real Sociedad next week to decide who takes the top spot and avoids having to play off against a third-placed side from the Champions League. United must win by two goals to topple the San Sebastian outfit on the head-to-head, after their 1-0 victory at Old Trafford. Virtually from the moment that United kicked off, the visitors sat into a robust defensive shape with all 11 players behind the ball, inviting the Reds to come at them. With a firm grip on the play, Erik ten Hag’s side enjoyed a steady stream of chances. Check out some of the atmosphere from the match. Let's have a look at his time at Old Trafford then his spell at The Etihad. Move to England On 23 August 2006, it was reported that Tevez was refusing to play for Corinthians. Tevez confirmed on his website on 31 August that both he and Javier Mascherano were signing for West Ham United on permanent deals for undisclosed fees.  Media reports speculated that other Premier League clubs turned down the opportunity of signing Tevez and Mascherano because of stipulations put in place by third parties MSI and Global Soccer Agencies.  Tevez made his West Ham debut after coming on as a second-half substitute in the 1–1 home draw with Aston Villa on 10 September 2006.   However, after this match, West Ham went on a nine-game winless streak (one draw and eight defeats), which included seven consecutive matches without scoring.
