United Review: Manchester is red

United 2 - 1 city

A few thoughts on a memorable afternoon at Old Trafford as United staged a late turnaround to come from behind and beat their local rivals in a dramatic derby at Old Trafford.

City looked to be closing the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal after substitute Jack Grealish headed them in front from Kevin de Bruyne's cross on the hour. However, United sent their fans into raptures with a superb recovery.

The reds drew level with 12 minutes left as Bruno Fernandes scored despite the presence of Marcus Rashford in an offside position.City's protests that he had interfered with play ignored despite the flag going up.

Marcus Rashford was the maib figure again four minutes later when he swept in substitute Garnacho's cross at the Stretford End to move United to within one point of the blues.

Minutes later, Bruno Fernandes got in on the act from Luke Shaw's corner. Our no.8 wasn't picked up as he wandered into the area to make it 3-1 on the night.  The final goal fell to Wout Weghorst, scoring his first in front of the Old Trafford faithful. Second-half substitute Facundo Pellistri was at the heart of the move, originally teeing up Scott McTominay whose s

United Review: Man United win first trophy since 2017.

Manchester United 2 - 0 Newcastle United Manchester United beat Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium. Casemiro’s header opened the scoring midway through the first half. Marcus Rashford then doubled Man United's lead with a shot that took a deflection off Newcastle's Sven Botman. Newcastle did test David De Gea’s goal during the second half. However, the reds managed to claim victory in London and would have extended the lead but for Loris Karius's heroics.  Erik ten Hag has now picked up his first piece of silverware as United manager.
