United Review: Late Garnacho win seals United win

 Fulham 1 - 2 Manchester United

How important could this win be at the end of the season?

Manchester United snatched a dramatic stoppage time winner through substitute Alejandro Garnacho as they beat Fulham in a thrilling final Premier League match before the Qatar World Cup.

In what was a frantic second half at Craven Cottage, Fulham looked to have earned a point before the 18-year-old Argentine raced through and arrowed a shot into the bottom corner past the former Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno.

Former United winger Dan James had earlier come off the bench to grab an equaliser from Tom Cairney's low cross to give the hosts what looked to be a well-deserved point after David de Gea had previously made several fine saves.

Christian Eriksen had previously put the visitors ahead in the first half with his first United goal, sliding in to finish at the back post from a low cross from Bruno Fernandes.

But Garnacho's winner with what was the last kick of the match gave United the three points.

Great way to head into the World Cup for Manchester United

The Premier League now takes a six-week break because of the Qatar World Cup, with no domestic top-flight matches until 26 December.

The win leaves the Red Devils fifth, 11 points behind leaders Arsenal and three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham with a game in hand on Antonio Conte's side. If you had spoken to United fans after the Brentford 4-0 defeat, I'm sure many would have taken this situation.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for the Reds in the sixth minute, with a rifling strike that emphatically flew past Claudio Bravo. Despite an excellent start by United, our goal would be cancelled out just after the half-hour mark due to the on-loan Ayoze Perez firing across David De Gea into the bottom corner.  Erik's reds prove too strong Antony restored United's lead with a trademark effort that curled beyond a stranded Bravo, who could only watch as it hit the top corner. Minutes later, Bruno Fernandes got in on the act from Luke Shaw's corner. Our no.8 wasn't picked up as he wandered into the area to make it 3-1 on the night.  The final goal fell to Wout Weghorst, scoring his first in front of the Old Trafford faithful. Second-half substitute Facundo Pellistri was at the heart of the move, originally teeing up Scott McTominay whose s

United Review: Man United win first trophy since 2017.

Manchester United 2 - 0 Newcastle United Manchester United beat Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium. Casemiro’s header opened the scoring midway through the first half. Marcus Rashford then doubled Man United's lead with a shot that took a deflection off Newcastle's Sven Botman. Newcastle did test David De Gea’s goal during the second half. However, the reds managed to claim victory in London and would have extended the lead but for Loris Karius's heroics.  Erik ten Hag has now picked up his first piece of silverware as United manager.
