Are United up for sale?
It has been reported across the world that those running Manchester United are commencing a process to explore strategic alternatives for the club.

The first part of the statement on the Manchester United website reads:
"The process is designed to enhance the club's future growth, with the ultimate goal of positioning the club to capitalize on opportunities both on the pitch and commercially.
As part of this process, the Board will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the Company. This will include an assessment of several initiatives to strengthen the club, including stadium and infrastructure redevelopment, and expansion of the club’s commercial operations on a global scale, each in the context of enhancing the long-term success of the club’s men’s, women’s and academy teams, and bringing benefits to fans and other stakeholders."
Pressure on the Glazer family has increased in a huge way since the failed bid to form the European Super League.
Reaction to the news
We've had a look through the social media platforms and forums to see what the reaction has been. One fairly well-known journalist said the below. This is something that many United fans would agree with:
The Glazers borrowed over half a billion to buy United, made the club pay the interest and milked god-knows-how-much more out for themselves over 17 years. And now they’ll walk away with billions. It’s a scandal it was ever allowed to happen in the first place

A thread on the Red Cafe forum ( SKY: Glazers 'exploring financial options that could include an outright sale' | Glazers confirm they will 'explore strategic alternatives' incl. sale | RedCafe.net) has already had over 40 pages of discussion.
The poster Glazed posted the following on that forum: "Firstly as far as I know we have spent less than City. But much more importantly the money has been spent with a commercial agenda in mind, and that's why the money exists. To put it another way, there is a reason we paid Ronaldo half a million a week, and it wasn't football. If we want to compete with City, we need the same kind of morally bankrupt plutocratic owners or some third option besides American sports franchise parasites."
Mancunian Angels replied with the following: "ultimately that's the biggest problem. Football is utterly broken at all levels. I'd love United to start dominating again but doing that with "morally bankrupt plutocratic" owners would never sit easy with me. I despise the Glazers like most but I hope we're all wary of jumping in bed with the first person that says they'll give us a good time."
