United Moments: Remember a 6-1 victory over Arsenal?

A memorable afternoon at Old Trafford in 2001 as Man United put 6 past Arsenal.

It was also an incredible match for Dwight Yorke.

Manchester United produced a football masterclass to humiliate nearest rivals Arsenal and establish a 16-point lead at the top of the Premiership. Dwight Yorke scored a hat-trick inside 21 magical minutes as a packed Old Trafford was treated to every trick in the book by a United team at the very peak of its powers.

Arsenal were annihilated as Keane and Solskjaer got in on the act with further goals in their best performance of the season. Sheringham then made it six of the best for United with the final goal in injury time.

What happened after?

Man United finished the season as champions, Arsenal finished in 2nd place 10 points behind United. The Gunners did gain some revenge the following season, and won the league at Old Trafford following a 1-0 win.

Did you remember the match?

One United fan offered a critical take on the Arsenal side of that era: "While Wenger's attacking & creative football was beyond legendary and an absolute joy to watch, he never really had a clue defensively compared to previous Arsenal managers. He never really learned how to win ugly.  This is probably why he never won a Champions League. They were always trying to go toe to toe with teams like Barca or Bayern."

A neutral fan provided an interesting statistic: "Dwight Yorke played for United for a short period but he is still regarded as a United legend. He won a treble as soon as he arrived at Old Trafford and scored a whole lot of goals. He was the top scorer for a non-European in the Premier League. This was a record taken by Aguero in 2017."

Despite what people are saying, I think Maguire could be a good option for us until Varane recovered." Another said: "Just when we starting to get a settled team, we get another injury. United Review: Rashford on form as United progress

Manchester United 2 - 0 Burnley Marcus Rashford readjusted to club matters after his World Cup campaign with England as he scored a fine solo goal in Manchester United's EFL Cup win over Burnley at Old Trafford. Rashford was one of five United players on duty in Qatar to make manager Erik ten Hag's starting line-up. Christian Eriksen put the hosts ahead just before the half hour with a fine first-time finish after Aaron Wan-Bissaka has provided his first goal assist since May 2021, Rashford took centre stage 12 minutes into the second period. Given too much space as Burnley's defence backed off, Rashford started running 10 yards inside his own half and didn't stop until he had sprinted into the box, darted between Jack Cork and Jordan Beyer and driven his ninth goal of the season into the bottom corner. It was enough to earn United only their second home win inside 90 minutes in this competition in five years. Controversial Reds: Love or Hate Tevez?

What do you think of Carlos Tevez? Carlos Tevez is one of the most controversial players to have played for United and City. Let's have a look at his time at Old Trafford then his spell at The Etihad. Move to England On 23 August 2006, it was reported that Tevez was refusing to play for Corinthians. Tevez confirmed on his website on 31 August that both he and Javier Mascherano were signing for West Ham United on permanent deals for undisclosed fees.  Media reports speculated that other Premier League clubs turned down the opportunity of signing Tevez and Mascherano because of stipulations put in place by third parties MSI and Global Soccer Agencies.  Tevez made his West Ham debut after coming on as a second-half substitute in the 1–1 home draw with Aston Villa on 10 September 2006.   However, after this match, West Ham went on a nine-game winless streak (one draw and eight defeats), which included seven consecutive matches without scoring. This winless run also in...
